How do I fix the “Low Barcodes” warning on the DM110i, DM160i or DM220i?
The machine stores a set number of barcodes on-board. When they run low, it prompts you to download more. To prevent or customise this warning:
- Press the Options button.
- Press Page Down once, then select Turn items ON/OFF.
- Select Tracking Services.
- Select Barcode Warning.
- Change the threshold to 0 to disable the warning, or set it to your preferred level.
How do I advance the date for franked mail on the DM110i, DM160i or DM220i?
Important: Always check the date before franking to ensure you are using the correct date.
- From the Home screen, press the Options button.
- Select Advance the date (the top option in the list).
- Add one day at a time until you reach the desired date.
- Once you have your desired date, press Continue.
- You can now frank at the selected future date.
How do I check for updates or update postage rates on the DM110i, DM160i or DM220i?
- From the Home screen, press Options.
- Page down until you see Connect-Data Centre and select it.
- Select Uploads & Downloads.
- If updates are available, the machine will upload or download the files automatically.
- Once complete, follow the on-screen steps to return to the Home screen.
How do I perform a surcharge payment on the DM110i, DM160i or DM220i?
- From the Home screen, press Select a Carrier. Two options display: Royal Mail and Surcharge.
- Select Surcharge Payment.
- Select Surcharge again when the next screen displays.
- Enter the required surcharge value when the cursor appears in the top right corner. Press Yes/Enter if correct, or No to go back.
- Press Yes/Enter again to confirm the amount.
You can now print your franked impression.
How do I fix a blank or blue screen on the DM110i, DM160i or DM220i?
A blank or blue screen is a contrast issue that is straightforward to fix. You will be working through the next steps “blind” (without being able to see the screen clearly).
- Turn the machine off and wait a few minutes for it to power down fully.
- Turn the machine back on and wait for it to initialise.
- Press the Options button.
- Press the bottom button on the left-hand side of the screen (the contrast button).
If the screen is blue: press the second button down (the ‘–’ button) several times to reduce contrast.
If the screen is blank: press the first button down (the ‘+’ button) several times to increase contrast.
How do I fix flashing navigation lights on the DM110i, DM160i or DM220i?
Flashing up, down or power lights on the navigation panel are usually caused by a connection conflict.
- Remove the connection cable from the machine (LAN, PC or analogue phone cable).
- Reboot the machine at the mains with only the power cable connected.
- This should clear the flashing lights.
How do I fix a sticking keyboard on the DM110i, DM160i or DM220i?
- Remove the power lead so the screen goes blank.
- Identify any stuck keys — non-stuck keys make a gentle click when pressed. Use the blunt end of a pen to gently push the stuck key down slightly and centralise it back to its original position. Test all keys if the stuck key is not obvious.
- Replace the power lead.
- Test the keyboard when the machine returns to the Home screen.
Why are some Royal Mail services not showing on my DM110i, DM160i or DM220i?
Royal Mail does not offer all of its services to all countries. For example, International Standard is available to many countries, but International Tracked / Tracked and Signed is only available where the destination country’s postal service supports these services. If a service is not shown, it is not available for your selected destination.
Why does my DM110i, DM160i or DM220i change the date at 5 pm?
The date on your franking machine advances to the next day at 5 pm every evening to meet Royal Mail requirements. You can still post your mail as usual — the exact date and time are encoded within the 2D barcode on the frank impression.
What does “Mail Exceeds Weight Limit or Capacity” mean on the DM110i, DM160i or DM220i?
