Mailmark Franking Changes to Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed & Signed For

From 1 November 2022, franking machine users no longer needed to attach separate coloured adhesive labels for Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed and Royal Mail Signed For. Instead, the franking machine prints a new indicia that includes the service barcodes, so the extra sticker step was removed.

What changed for Special Delivery and Signed For

Previously, franking machine users selected the required service on the machine and then attached a separate sticker so the additional service could be tracked. From 1 November 2022, Royal Mail introduced a new franking machine indicia that includes a Mailmark barcode plus an S10 1D barcode (or a 2D barcode), along with additional product-name information and new alpha-numeric content in the visual service indicator boxes.

No more separate service stickers

This change meant the separate Royal Mail service sticker was no longer used. Instead, your franking machine franks all the information Royal Mail requires about Special Delivery Guaranteed and Signed For within the S10 1D or 2D barcode. It formed part of Royal Mail’s wider modernisation of how mail is franked.
