What is a smart franking machine?

Check out our list below of Franking machines that are ‘Smart Meters’ or ‘Smart Enabled’.
Smart Franking Machines have been around for a few years now. A smart franking machine is a machine that enables ‘data capture’ so when you frank a certain service the machine can report back information on the service used and if VAT is applied it can automatically report to the Royal Mail that this service has been used and a VAT statement / invoice can then be issued. Currently only a few services are liable for VAT that can be accessed via a franking machine although this could change.
To make it easier to see if you have a smart Franking Machine see our list below. Please note this is only a guide so you may want to check for definite with your franking machine supplier / manufacturer.
If your franking machine is not on this list then please feel free to contact us using the form on the left to get an instant quote for an upgrade to a Smart Franking Machine.
