Watch the video guide below, then follow the steps to reset your DM60 scale to zero grams.
Note: Ensure the weighing platform is clear before resetting.
- Press Options once.
- Use the Review ▲▼ keys to scroll to Reset the Scales to Zero?
- Press Enter/Yes to confirm.
- The scales will reset and display the correct zero weight.
How do I fix the Pitney Bowes DM60 scales weighing erratically?
If your DM60 scale is giving inconsistent or erratic readings, follow these steps:
- Turn the franking machine off at the power lead.
- Remove the scale interface lead from the rear of the machine.
- Re-insert the scale interface lead securely.
- Re-insert the power lead and wait for the franking machine to re-initialise.
Why is my Pitney Bowes DM60 not weighing correctly or showing “Enter Weight”?
A communication issue between the scale and the franking machine can cause incorrect readings or the Enter Weight prompt. Try the solutions below in order.
Solution 1: Reset the scale
- Remove any items from the scale platform.
- Press the Menu / Options key.
- Press Review (down) until the display reads Reset the Scale to Zero?
- Press Enter / Yes.
- Test with an item of known weight (e.g. a £1 coin weighs 9g).
If the scale still does not weigh correctly, proceed to Solution 2.
Solution 2: Reboot the franking machine and check connections
- Unscrew the thumb screws on the scale cable and disconnect the cable.
- Unplug the power cable from the back of the franking machine.
- Wait one to three minutes.
- While waiting, reconnect the scale cable and tighten the thumb screws.
- Plug the power cable back in, ensuring it is connected directly to a wall outlet.
- Once the machine restarts, test the scale with an item of known weight.
How do I activate or disable Weight Hold mode on the Pitney Bowes DM60?
Weight Hold mode keeps the weight reading on screen after you remove a large mail piece, so you can still view the weight. To turn this feature on or off:
- Press Menu / Options.
- Use the Review ▲▼ keys to scroll to Change Setup, then press Enter / Yes.
- Scroll to Change weight hold setup? and press Enter / Yes.
- Follow the prompts to turn the feature ON or OFF.
- When finished, follow the prompts to return to the Home screen.
DM60 Scales – Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my Pitney Bowes DM60 show “Enter Weight” on the display?
The Enter Weight message usually indicates a communication problem between the scale and the machine. Try resetting the scale to zero and, if that does not resolve it, disconnect and reconnect the scale cable with the machine powered off.
How do I know if the DM60 scales are working correctly?
Test the scale using an item of known weight. A standard UK pound coin (£1) weighs 9 grams and makes a reliable test weight.
My DM60 scale resets but still weighs incorrectly — what should I do?
If a scale reset does not fix the problem, reboot the franking machine with the scale cable disconnected, then reconnect the cable before powering back on. If problems persist, contact Mailcoms support.
What is Weight Hold mode on the DM60?
Weight Hold mode freezes the weight reading on the display so you can view the weight after removing a large or bulky mail piece that would otherwise block the screen.
