  1. From the Home screen, press Options.
  2. Page down until you see Advanced Features and select it.
  3. Select Maintenance Mode.
  4. Select Printer Maintenance.
  5. Select Replacement.
  6. Select Replace Ink Tank.
  7. When prompted to open the cover to start replacement, proceed to the next step.
  8. If a larger scale platform covers the lid, remove it and place it to one side.
  9. Open the cover on top of the machine.
  10. Select Replace Ink Tank. The carriage moves forward.
  11. Open the green clasp to reveal the cartridge.
  12. Remove the old cartridge from the machine.
  13. Remove the packaging and all tape from the new cartridge.
  14. Place the new cartridge into the machine.
  15. Close the green clasp to lock the cartridge into place.
  16. Close the cover on the machine.
  17. Reseat the scale on top of the machine.
  18. The machine loads the cartridge and performs a maintenance cycle.
  19. Clear any messages that appear.

How do I fix poor print quality on the DM110i, DM160i or DM220i?

First, ensure you are using a genuine Pitney Bowes ink cartridge. Then run a purge, followed by a print head clean.

  1. Press Options.
  2. Press Page Down twice.
  3. Select Advanced Features.
  4. Select Maintenance Mode.
  5. Select Printer Maintenance.
  6. Select Purge.
  7. Select Purge C (the most effective purge for print problems).
  8. When the purge completes, the machine prompts you to insert an envelope or label for a test print. Feed one through as you would normally.
  9. If the test pattern is correct (a clean grid with no broken lines), press Enter/Yes, then press Home. If incorrect, select Yes to return to the Test Print screen and repeat the purge (up to three times).
  10. Select Replacement > Replace Print Head. Remove the scale if present.
  11. Open the ink tank access cover. The print assembly moves to the front.
  12. Open the print head cover, remove the ink cartridge and set it aside with the red circle facing up.
  13. Squeeze the clips holding the print head and lift it out.
  14. Wipe the copper-coloured section with a dry, lint-free cloth.
  15. Reinstall the print head, ensuring it clicks into place.
  16. Reinsert the ink cartridge and close the covers.

If print quality remains poor after completing all steps, replace the print head.
