How do I fix “Manual Weight” showing on the DM110i, DM160i or DM220i?
If the display shows Manual Weight instead of a scale reading, the scale needs to be reseated.
- Remove the scale from the top of the machine.
- Reseat the scale, ensuring the sides sit flush with the lid of the machine.
- Press Clear a few times to reactivate the scale.
- If Scale 0g is displayed, the scale is ready to weigh as usual.
How do I fix the weighing scale on the DM110i, DM160i or DM220i?
If the franking machine is not recognising weight, showing no prices, not showing preset prices, or displaying Manual Weight, the scale contacts may not be seated correctly.
- Lift the scale from the franking machine.
- Reseat the scale, ensuring the contacts are firmly seated on the machine.
- If reseated correctly, the franking machine will immediately recognise the scale.
How do I reset the DM110i, DM160i or DM220i scale to zero grams?
Note: Ensure the weighing platform is completely clear before zeroing.
- From the home screen, select Scales 0 g.
- Select Zero Scale.
- The scale resets and displays the correct zero reading.
How do I fix inaccurate or erratic weighing on the DM110i, DM160i or DM220i?
If the scale is weighing erratically or not weighing correctly, debris or poor contact may be the cause.
- Remove any items from the scale and zero it: from the main screen, select SCALE, then Zero the scale.
- Test by weighing an item of known weight (a £1 coin weighs 9g). If still incorrect, continue below.
- Turn the meter off by removing the power lead.
- Remove the scale and split it into its two parts.
- Blow compressed air around both scale parts and around the 9-pin connector underneath, plus the port on top of the machine where the scale sits.
- Reassemble the scale and reseat it onto the machine, ensuring it sits correctly.
- Replace the power lead and switch the franking machine on.
- Once the machine returns to the home screen, confirm the display shows SCALE: 0 g. If it shows a different weight, zero the scale again.
- Test with an item of known weight.
- If the issue persists, remove the four rubber feet from the base of the scale and try reseating it again — this occasionally resolves the problem.
