How do I replace the ink cartridge in the Pitney Bowes DM60?

Note: The DM60 uses an ink drop counter to track ink levels. If you remove and reinstall the same cartridge, the ink count resets.
- When the ink is low, the orange light in the top-right corner will illuminate.
- To begin the change process, lift the keypad and close it back down.
- The machine displays Change ink cartridge? — press Yes/Enter.
- Lift the keypad again; the cartridge will move into the change position.
- Press down the unlock button on the green clasp to release the cartridge.
- Remove the old cartridge from the machine.
- Unpack the new cartridge and remove the silver tape from the bottom.
- Insert the new cartridge with the Mailcoms label facing towards you.
- Press the green clasp down using the indent (without the image) to lock the cartridge in place.
- Close the keypad on the machine.
- The machine displays Install ink done — press Yes/Enter.
- The machine displays IMPORTANT — is the ink installed? — press Yes/Enter.
- The ink cartridge is now installed and ready to use.
How do I replace the print head on the Pitney Bowes DM60?

- Release the green clasp by pressing the unlock button.
- Remove the ink cartridge and set it aside — it will be reinstalled afterwards.
- At the front of the carriage, squeeze the two clips together and lift the mechanism to reveal the print head.
- Lift out the old print head using one of the two raised plastic parts in the centre.
- Unpack the new print head and remove the blue protective tape.
- Seat the new print head into the recess where the old one was sitting.
- Pull down the black mechanism until it clicks and locks in place.
- Reinstall the ink cartridge with the Mailcoms label facing towards you.
- Press down the green clasp indent (without the image) to lock the cartridge.
- Close the cover.
- Press Yes/Enter to confirm the new print head has been installed. If the print head was changed while the machine was powered down, reinsert the power lead now.
- Run a test print to confirm the installation is complete.
How do I improve poor print quality on the Pitney Bowes DM60?
If print quality on your DM60 is poor or streaky, clean the printer nozzles by following these steps:
- Press Options once.
- Use the Review ▲▼ keys to scroll to Use ink functions? and press Enter/Yes.
- Scroll to Clean printer nozzles? and press Enter/Yes.
- The display shows Preparing Ink — Please wait… while the nozzles are cleaned.
- When Insert envelope appears, insert a blank envelope. The machine prints a test pattern.
- The display shows Test pattern OK? (lines complete).
- If satisfied, press Enter/Yes. If lines are missing, press No to clean again.

- From the Home screen, press the Class button.
- Select Royal Mail by pressing Yes/Enter.
- Use the Review buttons to select the postal service you require.
- Select the size of your item using your Mailcoms PIP ruler, then press Yes/Enter.
- The machine displays the postage price for the selected service and size.
- Place your item on the scale — the machine will adjust the price based on the weight.
- Insert your item into the front of the machine to frank it.
Please note: If your item is too large to insert into the machine, use a Mailcoms franking label and affix it to the item.
How do I run a print test on the Pitney Bowes DM60?
- Press the Menu / Options key.
- Use the Review ▲▼ keys to scroll to Use ink functions? and press Enter/Yes.
- Scroll to Print test pattern? and press Enter/Yes.
- When prompted, insert an envelope or tape sheet into the machine.
- When prompted, remove the envelope. At Is test pattern OK?: press Enter/Yes if the pattern is good; press No if lines are missing (the machine will clean the nozzles and prompt again).

To see the total number of items your DM60 has franked during its lifetime:
- Press the Funds button.
- Use the down arrow to scroll until you see Total Pieces or Piece Count. The number displayed shows the total items franked.
