How do I replace the ink cartridge on the Mailbase Speed?
- Remove the scale and open the top cover.
- Select Replace Ink Tank.
- Unlock the green ink tank cartridge guard.
- Lift out the old ink cartridge.
- Remove the tape from the bottom of the new cartridge.
- Lower the new cartridge into the cavity so the ridges slide into the grooves.
- Close the green guard until it clicks.
- Close the cover – the machine recognises the new cartridge.
- When prompted, select Yes to print a test pattern (or No to skip), then replace the scale.
How do I replace the print head on the Mailbase Speed?
- Remove the scale and open the ink tank access cover.
- Select Replace Print Head.
- When the carriage moves forward, unlock the green ink tank latch and remove the ink cartridge (set it down with the red circle up).
- Squeeze the two grey tabs on the print head, then lift and tilt it to the right to remove it.
- Unpack the new print head and remove the protective tape from the bottom.
- Squeeze the grey tabs and slide the new print head into the carriage, pressing the top left and right to lock it in place.
- Reinstall the ink cartridge and relock the green latch.
- Close the cover and replace the scale – the machine runs a maintenance cycle.
- When prompted, select Yes to print a test pattern (or No to skip).
How do I fix poor print quality on the Mailbase Speed?
For streaking, blotching or fading, make sure you are using a genuine Mailcoms ink cartridge, then run a purge and clean the print head.
- Press Options, Page Down, Maintenance, then Printer Maintenance.
- Select Clean Printer Nozzle, then Purge C.
- When prompted, insert an envelope or label to print a test pattern.
- If the grid prints cleanly, press Enter/Yes then Home. If not, select No, Clean Nozzle to repeat the purge (up to three times).
- If it is still poor, clean the print head: select Replacement, Replace Print Head, remove the scale, open the covers and remove the ink cartridge (red circle up).
- Squeeze the clips and lift out the print head, wipe the copper-coloured section with a dry lint-free cloth, then refit it until it clicks.
- Reinsert the cartridge, close the covers and select Yes to print a test pattern. If print is still poor, the print head may need replacing.
How do I check the piece count on the Mailbase Speed?
- Press the Funds button.
- The lifetime number of items franked is shown on the screen.
