How do I fix the weighing scale on the Mailbase Speed?
If the machine is not recognising weight, shows no prices or displays manual weight, reseat the scale.
- Lift the scale from the franking machine.
- Reseat it, making sure the contacts are firmly seated.
- The machine should now recognise the scale.
How do I zero the scale on the Mailbase Speed?
Make sure the weighing platform is clear first.
- On the home screen, select the Weigh/Rate key.
- Select Zero the Scale.
- The machine returns to the home screen.
Why is my Mailbase Speed scale not weighing correctly?
Start by zeroing the scale, then check the meter is set to the attached scale.
- Remove any items, press Weigh/Rate, then Zero the Scale.
- Press Options, select Setup, Page Down and select Serial Port.
- Make sure Attached Scale is ticked – if External Accounting is ticked instead, press the key beside Attached Scale to select it.
- Remove the power lead for 60 seconds, then power back up.
- Test with a known weight – a £1 coin weighs 9g and a €1 coin weighs 8g.
Note: For an external weighing platform, make sure it is level using the round glass level (the dot should sit inside the black circle), adjusting the feet if needed. If it still fails, unplug the scale and power for 60 seconds, reconnect both, and plug the power directly into a wall outlet.
How do I use differential weighing on the Mailbase Speed?
Differential weighing speeds up processing – place all mail on the scale, then remove and frank one piece at a time.
- Select the carrier, class, mail type, account and envelope message.
- Press Weigh/Rate and select Differential Weighing.
- Place all the mail on the scale (use a container if needed).
- Remove a single piece and frank it as normal, repeating for each piece.
- When you remove the last piece or container, select Yes or No to print postage. Select Exit Diff. Weighing when finished.
Note: Each piece must weigh at least the Differential Weigh Trip Weight set, or the scale will not recognise its removal.
